Announcement Type: Special Notice Classification Code: 6695 Announcement Number: NIST-SS26-117 Subject: Notice of Intent to Noncompetitively Acquire Flexible Laser Stabilization System The NIST Quantum Measurement Division, Mass Force Group in the Physical Measurement Laboratory (PML) has recently begun a collaboration with other NIST groups developing primary thermometers based on measurements of the Doppler effect in atomic gases, specifically cesium and ytterbium. Accurately extracting the thermodynamic temperature from the Doppler absorption spectrum of a gas requires a laser-based optical frequency comb system with very low intensity, frequency, and phase noise.
